Description

ITER Elettronica table lamp with touch dimmer, Italy, 1971

Produced in Italy around 1971 by ITER Elettronica, this table lamp combines rationalist geometries and cutting-edge technology. A large spherical diffuser in opaline glass (Ø 36 cm) is surrounded by a smooth chrome band and supported by two sturdy chrome-plated metal supports that fit into a glossy black metal base.

The real jewel in the crown is the “touch” dimmer integrated into the front chrome band: just touch it to instantly adjust the intensity of the light, from a soft glow to full power. The model retains the original “ITER” label on the glass and is cited in the volume Light, Lamps 1968–1973: New Italian Design by Ferrari & Ferrari (fig. 69). At 57 cm high, 36 cm wide and 39 cm deep, it represents a classic of Italian retro-futurist design, perfect for enhancing any environment.
