Description
A set of three Italian decorative travertine sculptures from the 1970s, designed by Enzo Mari for Fratelli Mannelli. The three elephants are presented in increasing sizes and share the same minimalist formal language, characterized by rounded bodies, details reduced to the essentials, and a strongly sculptural silhouette.
Crafted from natural travertine, the figures feature the stone’s characteristic porous surface and subtle color variations. The simplified design transforms the animal figure into a graphic, architectural object that is fully in keeping with the language of 1970s Italian modernism.
The set can be used as a group of decorative sculptures, a desk set, paperweights, or—depending on the arrangement—as bookends.
The period label “Selezione Travertino Tivoli” is present—a feature consistent with Italian craftsmanship of the era and the quality of the selected travertine.
