Description

A refined pair of consoles designed by Paolo Buffa, an expression of the refined and understated elegance that distinguishes postwar Italian design. These pieces combine noble materials and light proportions in a composition of great decorative balance.

The structure features a linear wooden body, embellished with a front drawer, resting on slender, sinuous brass legs. The most distinctive element is the shape of the legs, which curve and intersect in the center, creating an architectural yet elegant effect. This detail lends visual movement and lightens the consoles’ presence, making them sophisticated yet never heavy.

The tops are crafted from Carrara marble, a material that adds luminosity and prestige to the overall effect. The two marble tops are different, a characteristic that highlights the uniqueness of the natural material and enhances the pair’s authentic charm, while maintaining complete stylistic coherence. The interplay between the warmth of the wood, the brilliance of the brass, and the pale surface of the marble creates an extremely refined result.

The consoles have been professionally restored with shellac polishing, a traditional process that enhances the depth of the wood, enhances its surface, and restores all the finesse of the piece without altering its historical character.
