Extraordinary Sicilian Art Deco wooden sideboard with a glass top, central drawers, and side compartments. This piece comes from a noble family in the heart of Catania and is unique in its craftsmanship, symbolism, and striking presence.
The structure features exquisite wood grain, nickel-plated brass details, and an elegant architectural composition. At the base, two hand-sculpted elephants visually support the piece and recall the symbol of the city of Catania, the Elephant Fountain, known as “u Liotru.” Their downward-facing trunks are a sign of respect for the city. The piece has undergone a luxurious restoration, performed using a traditional shellac polishing technique, which enhances the wood’s depth, brilliance, and warmth.
