Description

A rare and dramatic geometric silkscreen mirror designed by Rogelio Polesello for Morphos – Acerbis in the 1970s, it perfectly expresses the visual and perceptive research that made the Argentine designer one of the most recognizable protagonists of design and optical art of the second half of the twentieth century.

The composition unfolds through the superposition of two archetypal shapes, the square and the circle, which intersect on the mirror surface in a powerfully graphic balance. The rigor of the geometric structure is further enhanced by the polychrome silkscreen, characterized by intense yet soft hues of yellow, green, azure, blue, red, and magenta. These chromatic transitions generate a sense of movement, depth, and visual lightness, transforming the mirror into a truly artistic presence.

The large, reflective central surface interacts with the colored shapes that seem to float around it, creating an optical effect typical of Polesello’s style: the object doesn’t simply reflect space, but interprets it, breaks it down, and renders it with a strong aesthetic impact. The thin, black outer profile further defines the composition, precisely framing it and accentuating its architectural character.

More than a simple mirror, this piece is a wall art piece, ideal for sophisticated spaces, Italian design collections, modern interiors, or contexts with a postmodern or radical feel. The presence of the manufacturer’s label and signature on the back enhances its collectible appeal.
