Neoclassical Bronze Center Table with Four Winged Sphinx Figures and Marble Top

An important Neoclassical-style center table, featuring an elaborate sculptural bronze structure and a large circular marble top.

The base is supported by four winged, sphinx-like female figures, finely modeled in their facial features, hairstyles, jewelry, wings, and numerous ornamental details. These figures are integrated directly into the table’s supports, creating a sophisticated balance between a functional piece of furniture and a decorative sculpture.

The frieze beneath the tabletop is decorated with a continuous, raised floral motif, while the four supports are connected at the base by an intricate geometric cross-brace that further accentuates the piece’s architectural and monumental character.

The bronze retains a warm, natural patina acquired over time, which highlights the depth of the modeling and the richness of the ornamentation.

The large, circular marble tabletop features a polished edge and creates an elegant material contrast with the darker tones of the bronze structure.

In terms of its proportions, iconography, and ornamental richness, the table evokes the language of Neoclassicism and the Empire Revival—specifically the tradition of incorporating sphinxes and mythological female figures as structural elements of the piece.

A piece with a strong visual presence, ideal as a center table, an entryway table, or a statement piece in a refined setting.
